A BIT ABOUT ME
I live in the village of Blockley, near Moreton-in-Marsh, in the North Cotswolds. As well as my work, I enjoy music, theatre, walking, artwork and the countryside.
Before training in counselling, I worked professionally for many years, in health settings (hospitals and clinics in all specialisms, (incl. psychiatric) - helping individuals, couples and families who were struggling with very difficult personal situations, physical or psychological illness, trauma or loss.
As a counsellor, I have worked in health centres, GP surgeries and in private practice for over 12 years in Suffolk and Cambridge, before moving to Gloucestershire 16 years ago. Since Gloucestershire no longer has counsellors based in GP Surgeries, I now run my own small practice.
I have also worked in child guidance (mainly relationship counselling + some family therapy work) and, over the years, voluntarily, in a Young Persons' Counselling Agency, in Palliative Care and in a Sure Start family centre.
In the NHS I worked with all sorts of people and problems - especially in the areas of bereavement (and other major loss), depression, relationship difficulties (of all kinds), health issues, stress, trauma, abuse, major life changes, family problems, and job difficulties. But I have many years of experience counselling for a wide variety of emotional and life difficulties.
Having worked with couples (as well as individuals) for many years,I now only offer individual (1-1) counselling. I work from a lovely summerhouse in the garden of my home. It is a peaceful and therapeutic setting. Free parking is available nearby.
